Visual Landings:

Airliners only

1. As you approach 20 miles from the airport, reduce speed to 200 knots.

2. Set flaps to 15.

3. Line up with the desired landing runway.

4. Tune the altimeter to the correct pressure setting by pressing "B", then descend/ascend to 1900 feet while maintaining 200 knots.

5. Once you are 10 miles from the airport, reduce speed to 140-170 knots, set flaps to full, and put the gear down.

6. Make sure you can visually see the runway, if not, it's time to use ILS. (See previous help topic for more info.)

7. As you are maintaining 1900 feet, and 140-170 knots, perform the final landing checklist:

  • Landing Gear Down
  • Flaps set to 3/4
  • Spoilers armed
  • Autobrake is on (Not recommended for maximum realism)
  • Landing Lights on
  • Ensure that you're cleared to land with ATC.

then guide your plane straight down the imagenary guiding path.

8. Find the 2-4 red/white lights on the side of the runway. Use these lights to glide your plane down. It's as simple as this, The more red means that you are too low, the more white means that you are too high. If you have 2 red and 2 white/1 red and 1 white, you are perfect. Your goal as a flight simmer is to maintain 2/2 red/white or 1/1 red/white lights all the way down to the threshold. Use these lights to bring your plane down to the runway!

9. Once you reach the runway threshold, (about 300 feet from the runway), set throttle to idle and flare a little bit for a nice smooth landing.
